Will my power supply be enough for my new video card?

I'll be buying a new GTX280 card tomorrow and i currently have a Seasonic S12-Energy Plus 550 watt PSU. The manufacturers website for the card says that minimum PSU is 550 watts.

I know that its better to have a hundred watts or so more than your system actually needs to spare but do you think i could get away with it?

I'll only be running one HDD, a core 2 duo, Gigabyte P35 mobo, dvd drive, the video card, plus a tv tuner card.

Do you think i could get away with using the current PSU seeing as its a seasonic and it has the '80-plus' certificate?|||Do yourself a favor, and cough up the money to afford a new one. Stay away from cheap stuff too. I'm an expert in the computer field, so just take it from me, you much rather be safe than sorry. I, knowing damn well that having a PSU pushing it (like yours) was a bad idea, but because I did not want to cough up the money, I ended up with a fried PSU which almost destroyed my whole PC (3 months ago). Try newegg.com for a new PSU. Don't go to BestBuy or CircuitCity or any of those places. I worked at both and they have crap at high prices; its a gyp. Research the type of PSU you will need before purchasing. If the video card alone demands that much as a minimun, keep in mind that you also have to run other pieces of hardware inside your PC. Hope that helps, and good luck.|||you can pull it off but then ther might be shorts in the system somethimes and it may fry the cpu i would upgrade|||You should be fine. You will not fry anything. But check the "Max Load" on the actual power supply, it is probably 600W, which means that it is rated for 550W, but if it needs 600W, it will bump it up automatically. If the max load is 550W, personally I would upgrade, but you won't fry anything. And anyway I would recommend the Radeon HD 4870, very close results, for $200 less, what I would do, is get a 4870, upgrade the power supply, and still have $100 too spare.
