Question about video cards?

im looking to buy a new video card maybe something mid ranged. i was thinking of getting a nvidia geforce 9400 gt, is this any good?

i'm open to suggestions of other video cards of around the same price, slightly more expensive would be ok.

thanks!|||the 9400 is pretty low end, the 9800 or 8800 is a good buy these days, you can find them for around $100

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…|||Any information about your motherboard's specifications ?

In order to give good advice ?|||Nvidia geforce 9400 gt is perfect. It can handle almost all the high end games out there.|||NVIDIA gaming generally starts with cards that end in 600 or higher. If you want the GeForce 9 family of cards, go with the 9600 GT or higher. The 9400 is more for multimedia (video playback) and some image editing. For gaming, you could play some games, but the settings would need to be fairly low and performance would still be weak. The 9600 GT is the entry level for gaming while the 9800 would be the better choice, but at a higher cost. Check sites like NewEgg.com or PriceWatch.com for deals on these cards.

Oh, if you wanted to save a little money on the cards, look at the 8600 GT or the 8800 level cards before getting a 9400 or a 9500 card.
