New video card question..

My PC has integrated video (blech), and I wan tto pu tin a new video card. How hard is it to disable the on board video so my PC will recognize and use the new video card? Any help would be greatly appreciated and I will vote best answer :)|||since you place this under laptops, i would be assuming that your computer is a laptop. sadly, laptops are not very upgrade-friendly. most laptops don't have the capability to change video cards as they are mostly just video chips soldered into the motherboard itself.

for desktop, it would be very easy as most motherboards now are auto configure and they wil automatically turn your onboard video off upon booting up with a new video card.|||FOR NOTEBOOKS:

It is possible, just get an ASUS XG Station, an external Graphics Card.

ASUS XG Station Empowers Upgradeable Graphics Power for Notebook Computers. Enjoy up to 10-times faster graphics power boost with cinematic audio performance. ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (ASUS), the leading provider of high-performance graphics solutions, launched the XG Station as the industry’s first public demonstration of the world’s first external graphics card station for notebook computers. Equipped with Express Card interface, USB 2.0 and Dolby headphones, the XG station seamlessly integrates notebook computing with PC graphics power.

NB: It will require a separate monitor as well as its own power source, both of which reduce its viability for portable gaming.
