im looking for a new video card. i dont play games but i would like a card that has an hdmi output so i can connect to my lcd tv to watch movies. i want hdmi over dvi so it can transfer audio as well
i dont understand the process of using an alternate power supply for the video card. can anyone explain?
otherwise i need a card that is windows XP compatible, 256mb prefered, hdmi output, and 300watts so i dont need an additional power supply. are there any cards that meet these standards?
THANKS|||Here they are pci express interface http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis…
Yes they all will work with XP. When you receive your card the cd will contain the drivers for Vista and XP. You dont really need to install those drivers though you can just go online here for ATI cards http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pa…
and choose XP home as system then Radeon then the series you have and download latest catalyst package drivers. I know they release new drivers almost every month and its worth it to update to get the card to perform better.
For Nvidia you go here http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.asp…
Also they dont list requirements because there are none really these cards have very low power requirements your 300 watts is plenty.
The most powerfull card from the links you have are the 4670 then the 9500 gt then the 4550. For some of these you can find the requirement by clicking on their link then scroll down and click on the Manufacturer Info tab then clicking the manufacturer product page link.
So from that website it http://www.sapphiretech.com/us/products/… says 400w minimum but based on my experience it will work with 300w. They list higher requirements because they test with the maximum components and maximum power draw so they are using like 4 hard drives etc lol.|||What is your current power supply? What is the exact brand and model? (Or how many amps can it supply total on all 12V rails?)
Update: Your power supply has a 12V capacity of 19A. You can use any PCI-Express graphics card that is rated for use with a total 12V current capability of 19A. That will pretty much be any card that runs solely off the power provided by the slot. Avoid cards that require a separate power connector.
