Hi,
I have a computer that I bought January of 2006. I want to start playing Flight Simulator X, and I want to get a new video card. The problem is, the video card on my computer is built into my motherboard. I want to install an ATI Radeon card and they seem to plug into a slot. My computer has empty ones for that. Will the new video card work? Please respond fast, it would be greatly appreciated!|||First find out if you have an empty PCI, AGP, or PCI-E slot. If all you have is PCI, then there's no real use, as it will crawl at terrible speeds. You have some decent options with AGP, but PCI-E is best.
Open up your computer, if you see an empty brown slot, that's AGP. If you see an empty orange/orangeish red one, that's PCI-E. PCI is white I believe.|||You can add a video card--just make sure it is compatible with your motherboard. It will be either AGP-PCI- orPCI express. You will probably want 256MB or larger.|||It should as long as you get the correct type of video card|||If your motherboard has atleast one free PCIe 16x slot, then yes, you can get yourself a new graphics card installed. If you're only after ATI and can afford it, get yourself an X1950 XTX, but make sure you've got a beefy enough powers supply to draw full power from the card. And if you have wads of cash to blow, get yourself an nVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX for the ultimate next-gen gaming experience !! :)
