Im looking for a video card and mother board combo under. or barebones combo?

I have been looking for some computer stuff for a little while now and i really need a new video card and motherboard. Im running a nvida 6800 and i can barley play Star Craft 2 on low. Any sugestions for stuff that's under 300, or a barebones computer with out hard drive... i got 1TB|||If you go very low end on the processor, motherboard, and RAM (I'm willing to bet that your current rig is running DDR and not DDR2 or DDR3), and midrange on the video card, you could build something that can play SC2 on low at great frame rates and medium at decent frame rates. However, I wouldn't expect it to be able to play SC2 nearly as well after an expansion pack.

You should really consider upping your budget between $450 and $600 so you can put something together that'll last you more than a year or two. Quad-core processor (1156, 1155, or AM3/AM3+), 4GB or more DDR3 RAM, ATI 5750 or NVIDIA GTS450 graphics, and a new power supply (because your old one should be replaced when you install new guts) as a baseline. Here's something I put together on Microcenter's website at the high end of that price range (prices are before rebates) -

Core i5 2400 - $150

MSI P67A-C45 1155 motherboard - $145

Crucial Ballistix DDR3-1600, 4GB - $65

Galaxy 60XMH6HS3HMW GTX460 - $160

OCZ ModXstream 600 watt psu - $80

Total - $600

You can always shop around for better prices on different parts. Some places are better than others when it comes to prices.

The real advantage of just building something that's future-proof is that you won't end up spending more on upgrades over the next 3 or 4 years because games are unplayable again. Of course, these parts are just a suggestion; socket 1156 and socket AM3/AM3+ processors are also good alternatives when it comes to quad core processors that will have relatively future-proof performance over the next 3 to 4 years. I would recommend that you stay away from AM2/AM2+ motherboards and socket 775 in general, however - DDR2 will become ever more expensive as time moves on and both technologies are at the end of their development roadmap for performance enhancements.

EDIT - note that I didn't mention a case because if you have a GF6800 that runs well, then your case is doing a good job at keeping everything cool. This is especially true if you also have a Pentium 4 processor.|||i can suggest a few very good cards for under $300 but without knowing the rest of your system it would be quite pointless to suggest anything to you
