How should I upgrade my video card?

Hi, I have a question, I have found that my Nvidia Geforce 8500 GT Is becoming out of date and needs upgrading. It is 256 mb and I was just wondering, since it is SLI ready, should I just buy another one( 8500GT) to double the power, or should I go with A whole new video card like the GTX 250 or something?|||Definitely go with a single better card.



First of all, the 8500GT is very low-end so even a pair in SLI wouldn't be as fast as today's $65 cards. Second, just because the card is SLI ready doesn't mean you can install a 2nd card in SLI. You need an SLI motherboard with a 2nd PCI-Express slot!



The GTS 250 is good for it's price range but requires a 450W power supply. If your power supply is only 300W, the best card you can install is the Radeon 5670, followed by the GeForce GT240.



Anything better like a GeForce 9800GT, Radeon 5750, GTS 250 etc would require a power supply upgrade.|||It really depends on your power supply. If your powerful supply is high, go ahead and get the GTS 250. When buying, it should say the minimum requirement. I think the minimum for a GTS 250 is 450W, so 550W would be good. If your power supply is lower, get a GT 240 or something in that field. If your power supply like like 300W, then i suggest upgrading it.|||first question you need to answer, how large is your PSU (power source)? if its 400 or smaller than you definitely want to consider upgrading that before you do the vid card. Not to mention another in SLi will eat more power. i would recommend a gtx260 or gtx275 1GB, best bang for the buck IMO.|||i would just get a whole new card, it wil give you MUCH more performance plus,

a single good card can easily out-perform 2 lower profile cards in SLI|||SLI's not great, but it's never fun to trash a video card. My opinion? Go with GTX 250 or something like that.
